UNIFYING THEMES/IDEAS

NATALIE BATALHA STORIES
combined with
BIPOLAR BEAR Stories
combined with
WRECKING BALL

Girl transitions from one story to another
hearing music in the next scene, or a dog bark, or the floor crumble beneath her (9/11) or mountain (dream falling)

Girl's father closes storybook, she looks at the clock (11:23), then the calendar (Nov, checked off until 11/23).  Intelligence creeping across her face, that will be the last time she will see her father . . . she screams!! (knowing her Father will die that day)
Wakes up as a grownup

Single Mom (?) Julie-like, harried
Alice in Wonderland-like

9/11
Hurricane Sandy (and Katrina)

Her real life gets interrupted by UNNATURAL events (dogs talk to her?) Discovers doors, stands next to movie stars, etc (Like LULU, when she comes face to face with a giant picture of herself, both the painting & her own face are locked by a building/plant, but you can see her reaction.

Music playing (she has a beautiful voice)
She can paint beautiful scenes, (but nobody can see them except her?)
Beautiful writer, etc, but nobody else sees (she's actually paranoid to let others see her work)

She writes a book for E.  (Who grows up, so there is no little boy anymore. . .  sad)

Story keeps turning in on itself, like a Sci-Fi movie has invaded a normal/documentary

Door inside the TV?

What if you could see your life (in small, unresolved chapters) when you were a child?

Little Green Cars, "My Love Took"
Of Monsters and Men, "This Ship Will Carry" ("Little Talks")

A house as the sanctuary, horror that it will be taken by fire, and then it gets taken by Hurricane Sandy.
(Maybe she can see into HIS nightmares)

THEY ARE FRIENDS, but don't know which period is real.

Little Boy, Grown Man, Old Man,
Little Girl, Grown Woman, Old Woman
(3 actors to play each character, all combinations)

Her as a Little Girl, lilacs around the house.

(She visits him, Grown Woman/Little Boy-he won't stop doing a pillow fight when she's trying to babysit, but she can't stop laughing.  When he visits her Grown Man/Little Girl, he can't stop kissing her-she accepts that he crosses/crossed a line when they interact as Grownups.  "I forgive everything"
Are they everything to each other, all of each other's nightmares?  When she thinks of romance, she thinks of the Man who touched her when she was wearing her uniform.  Lovers damage each other.

Grumpy.  Every song on the radio was her least favorite song.

She kept waking up to being unemployed.  The least she could do would be to admit to a drinking problem, a divorce, drugs, a crime, a pregnancy.  But no, she was merely unambitious.

Old people.  Dance of life, going through the motions of eating, no more fighting.  Everything is over except the death.  All the fun.  All the excitement & passion.  (Start with this??) He wasted his life being a hermit and hiding from life.  Always saying NO to her.

She wasted her life & talents by not sharing them with people.  ALL THOSE TIMES SHE WAS AFRAID TO FAIL.

"You hurt me, and that's how I became cold"
"You kept yelling.  I could never be good enough for you"
(That's the place for all the AWFUL stuff to go)

As old people, can they hear themselves in the next room, yelling at each other??

(Scenes bleed into other scenes.  Cartoon images take over.  Like Roger Rabbit.  Like a Graphic Novel)

Magic Circle Pond-old woman and boy

Come on.
How come you are old & I'm young?
She smiled.
It's more fun that way.
